Position Summary:

The Workup (WU) Coordinator works in the Workup Team with unrelated donors at final stage of the donor and patient matching process.  The WU Coordinator facilitates registry and transplant center requests for registered donors to donate and coordinates all aspects of the donation process.


Responsibilities:

• Contact donors identified as matches for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant to assess donor interest and availability

• Facilitate all aspects of the donor workup process including: o Educating and consenting donors on the marrow and peripheral blood stem cell donation process using principles of informed consent

• Evaluate donors for medical and non-medical factors affecting suitability and eligibility using guidelines set by DBC and the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)

• Coordinate physical exams, lab work and additional medical appointments as neededo Coordinate marrow and peripheral blood stem cell donations

• Comply with all regulatory requirements, standards, policies, procedures pertaining to the donor management process including: principles of informed consent and Protection of Humans as Research Subjects; bone marrow donor registry requirements and standards, applicable FDA and NY State Department of Health regulatory requirements (including, but not limited to FDA Good Tissue Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices; NYS DOH tissue procurement)

• Ad hoc activities including research, quality assurance, and process improvement projects

• Occasional travel may be necessary


Requirements:

Because the candidate will be working with potential donors on a daily basis, it is essential to have excellent communication, active listening skills, and empathy in interacting with people who are making significant life decisions. The ideal candidate must be highly organized and detail oriented. Accuracy in completing data forms and case note documentation is essential.


• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

• Minimum of two years work experience in a healthcare setting or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background

• Knowledge of medical terminology, case-note documentation, and conducting medical histories is preferred

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment

• Very proactive work ethic and the ability to diligently meet targets

Position Summary: The Donor Management Department consists of five teams (Confirmatory Typing, Workup, Follow Up, Quality Assurance, and Transplant/Collection Center Management) that comprise the stages of the unrelated bone marrow donor search and collection process. The Quality Assurance team is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the organization and processing clinical data collection forms. The Quality Assurance Manager manages the Quality and Clinical Data Collection team, is responsible for ensuring quality for all donor medical records in accordance with established procedures and protocols, and ensuring Delete Blood Cancer |DKMS remains in good standing with all regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Clinical Data and Quality team to ensure that all documents are processed in a timely manner, medical records are appropriately reviewed, and quality incidents are tracked
  • Oversee internal audit processes
  • Collect, track and analyze data to detect quality deficiencies, duplicated effort, or non-compliance with regulations, conducting investigations as required, and reporting and establishing corrective actions based on all findings
  • Ensure compliance with all standards, policies, procedures, and documentation requirements set by DBC, registries, and regulatory authorities
  • Recommend and implement modifications or additions to existing procedures to enhance documentation and data collection
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor process improvement projects
  • Maintain Quality Management Program
  • Maintain and improve processes for problem form resolution and error correction processing
  • Educate and train staff on compliance, privacy, and good documentation practices
  • Oversee annual and as needed review and updates of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Oversee document and medical supply control
  • Maintain, submit, and renew DBC registration with all applicable regulatory agencies (e.g. FDA, FWA, DOH, registries)
  • Ensure that the office and its employees are in compliance with HIPAA by providing training and updates
  • Ad hoc projects

The Confirmatory Typing (CT) Coordinator works in the Confirmatory Typing Team with unrelated donors at the initial stage of the donor and patient matching process. The CT Coordinator facilitates registry and transplant center requests for registered donors to participate in high resolution and confirmatory testing.


Responsibilities:

  • Contact donors identified as potential matches for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant to assess donor interest and availability

Position Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for administrative and operational activities related to HLA and scientific special projects, as well as serving as a point of contact for the HLA Services team at the DKM S global headquarters and the HLA laboratory in the US.


Responsibilities:

• Develop, oversee and manage operational and administrative activities of HLA analytical special projects

• Oversee business relationship with the HLA laboratory that proving typing services for potential stem cell donors

• Regular contact and reporting with global HLA/Scientific Service team and with national bone marrow donor registries

• Contact and educate potential donors around prospective typing of tissue characteristics and stem cell donation

• Evaluate medical information to determine donor eligibility according to established criteria

• Collect and analyze business, performance and medical data and offer recommendations based on data analysis

• Recommend modifications or additions to existing procedures

• Plan, coordinate and monitor process improvement projects

• Ensure compliance with all standards policies, procedures and documentation requirements set by DKMS, registries and regulatory authorities

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in life science preferred

Position Summary:

The Donor Management Department consists of five teams (Confirmatory Typing, Workup, Follow Up, Logistics, and Transplant / Collection Center Management) that comprise the stages of the unrelated bone marrow / stem cell donor search and collection process. The Transplant / Collection Center Account Manager is a member of the Donor Management team, and develops and maintains relationships with key Transplant Centers (hospitals treating patients in need of transplant) and Collection Centers (hospitals facilitating marrow / stem cell donors).


Responsibilities in Detail:

  • Expanding and fostering network of transplant centers, collection centers and registries
  • Analysis of organizational and decisional structures within NMDP affiliated hospitals, identifying decision-makers, building relationships and maintaining contacts
  • Identifying KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders)willing to assist in spreading DBC’s mission by conducting second line marketing and representing DBC at physician functions
  • Collaborating with donor data management and donor management to identify geographical regions that require additional donor resources
  • Assessing donor capacity of collection/apheresis centers
  • Identify solutions for increasing donor capacity
  • Working closely with transplant and collection center coordinators to streamline the donor process to improve efficiency and communication with DBC donor center
  • Research of medical and financial situation in regions and in clinics in order to tailor solutions to meet their needs
  • Analysis and monitoring of national and regional health care systems; assessment of impact on hospitals and Delete Blood Cancer
  • Participation in the development of strategies, projects, and solutions to problems that arise in the context of the analysis


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of four years’ work experience in a healthcare setting or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background

Delete Blood Cancer DKMS is a great place for college students to gain practical professional experience in a uniquely inspiring and challenging environment. We offer semester-length and summer internships in all of our departments—marketing, public relations, fundraising, donor management, donor recruitment, finance and administration. All interested candidates must be currently enrolled in a college-level academic program. Compensation is limited to college credit and a daily stipend covering lunch and round-trip commute expenses.
