Collecting Information About You

In general, you can visit many of the pages on this Website without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. However, there may be times at which we may ask you to provide personal information. If you register to become a potential bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cell donor, we require that you provide certain personally identifiable information including your name, address and phone number. If you choose to make a monetary donation, we also require that you provide your credit card information. We need this information to process your registration or monetary donation, and to contact you in connection with that registration or monetary donation.

If you register as a potential bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cell donor, you will be asked to provide additional health and contact information if you are identified as a possible match for a patient. Use by Delete Blood Cancer of any such additional information will be governed by the terms of the Notice of Privacy Practices, which is accessible here.

In addition to the information that you choose to provide to us through this Website, we may also collect certain non-personally identifiable information, such as the number and frequency of visitors to the Website, the type of Internet browser you are using, the domain name of your Internet service provider and your Internet Protocol address. We may use such data to record and analyze usage information and to otherwise improve the Website.

Using Information About You

When you provide us with personally identifiable information, you acknowledge that we may use it for various internal purposes, including, but not limited to: informing you that you may be a potential match, providing you with educational information regarding becoming a donor, keeping our donor registration current, responding to your inquiries about our offerings and informing you of news and events, services and offers, providing you with information about Delete Blood Cancer, including regarding fundraising activities and educational initiatives, and in any other manner that we deem necessary or desirable to enhance your experience with the Website and related products and services. If you provide us with your e-mail address, we may send you information or newsletters about news, new features and additions, and changes to the Website. If you provide us with your e-mail address but subsequently decide that you do not wish to receive certain e-mails, you may click the "unsubscribe" button at the top and/or bottom of such e-mails.

Sharing Information About You

If you register to become a donor, you will be assigned a unique donor ID number. The only information that we share with national and international donor registries, such as the federally authorized C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program, the Be the Match Registry® (operated by the NMDP), and the ZKRD (German bone marrow donor registry, accessible for patients worldwide), as well as the lab that tests your cheek swab sample, is this unique donor ID number, as well as any other information that is necessary to match your typing results with a patient.

Unless Delete Blood Cancer has your permission or is required by law, the personal information you provide us online will be shared only with our affiliated entities, some of which may be located outside of the United States (including Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei (Delete Blood Cancer Germany)), and companies or persons that provide us with certain services including credit card processing, shipping, data management, promotional services, etc. We provide these service providers with the information needed for them to perform these services. We also ask our service providers to confirm that their privacy practices are consistent with ours.
